a quilt for Caroline

I'm having trouble. I started a quilt top for Caroline back in the fall using the butterfly fabric that I had shown on here before. I didn't get to finish it because of being pregnant and then having Sara. Well, I finally got back around to it. The problem is that I don't know if I want it to be Caroline's quilt anymore. I have only finished the top, so now's the time to decide. Here are a couple pictures (not very good ones) of the quilt top.

The main reason that I'm rethinking things is because Caroline is so in love with purple. It just seems wrong to not have some purple in her room. I have tried to come up with a way to make purple go with the quilt top that I've already made, but I can't figure out anything that would work well. So, I'm thinking about making one that has some purple. Here are a couple ideas (I included the pink on so you can see more of what the first purple one looks like).

After giving it plenty of thought, I decided that maybe it would be good to not be stuck only on purple...in case she finds a new favorite color. So I thought that something rainbow like the ones below might be a better choice.

So what do all of you think? Help! I need some input here to help me figure things out.

I love the first one that you have made. I really like the idea of stripes. That way as she grows older and changes her tastes she would have options. I liked the stripe pillow. It looked like it wasn't all solid colors but had different patterned colors. That is a neat idea.

I pretty much agree with jennjenn all the way. I don't know if you're planning on keeping the 1st quilt, but I love the pattern so much -- what about using your pattern idea with a different pallette whether it's purple tones or multi color. Of the purple quilts, my fav was the 1st. Of the primary colors - the idea of mixing the solids & patterns is great. One thing to consider is the accessories for the room. You'll be able to find a lot of things in primary pallette, but they may not be particularly *girly*. So, you might be able to find boxes, bins, clocks, etc. but perhaps not flowers, wall art, etc. I vote for going purple -- cater to her favorite color now. Think about her next favorite color when/if it comes.

oh, and just like the 1st quilt, when I say "purple" quilt, I love the idea of including different tones of purple as well as a complementary tones (greens or yellows).
