recent projects

When we bought our house, there was an old rusty swing sitting out back. For some reason, I liked it. It's not anything special, but I liked it. It came with the house and it seemed like it needed to be fixed up and used...to stay with the house. It's only taken more than two and half years, but it finally got it's "remodel" (thanks in part to Norm & Ginger). Here are two pictures for comparison. The "before" picture isn't great, but it's what I could find. And the "after" picture is when the swing was still sitting out in the yard where I painted it.

And today I borrowed a pressure washer from my parents (thanks, Daddy!) and cleaned up the back patio. It was really cruddy and needed some major cleaning. The best place to see the difference in these pictures is at the mat at the bottom of the stairs. In the "before" picture, there's not much difference in color. In the "after" picture...well...major difference.

Next on my list is to repaint the railing for the stairs and also the patio table and chairs...and maybe even the back door.

i like weeds

I like taking pictures of weed flowers. I don't know why, but I just do. I took lots of pictures of my birthday tulips on Tuesday and then turned to the weeds. This is my favorite picture of all of them. (And I had fun playing with Photoshop Editor and adding something like a watermark...just for fun.)

February snow

This picture is at the height of the snowfall. It was coming down so fast and so big that I wanted to capture a picture of it.

I thought the camellias looked interesting nestled in the snow...like a contradiction.

I went out after dark to get a picture of the road and all the snow. As you can see, there were still some crazy people out driving in this.

And just another shot across the street from our porch.

I loved the clear blue sky with the snow. Again, a strange contradiction.

And one last perspective.
