This is the living room from the far side. The front door to the house is on the left and the door to the dining room is on the right.

Here is the chair that will go in the room. The chair and couch are the same fabric. You can also look at the previous post to see what they look like.

This is a close-up of the fabric.

I am going to have to decide whether to go with the original wood floors (and a rug) or carpet (which would probably be a neutral color). Of course, that is dependent upon the condition of the floor. This picture is the floor in the room that will be Caroline's. It has been finished a bit (who knows how much) and appears to have been used as wood floor for a while. The other floors in the house have been covered with carpet (and all but one still is).

Well, Jennifer, I am so happy that you are going to have your first experience with painting. (AKA Choosing your own colors, etc.) Of course, it can be challenging, yeah, even frustrating, but when it comes together -- there's nothing like it!
Colors: a rosemary or sage green. We've used a Restoration Hardware color to great success in our office, and Jen painted her bathroom that color as well. In fact, in her bathroom, she has it combined with red, as well as blue, yellow, and green.
Arrangement: It looks as though they have stubbed the "cable" at the wall between the two doors, but I would think you might feel a bit crowded walking right into the entertainment unit. I would consider a console table or something thin on which to place bring in the house articles, such as mail, keys, children's playtoys. It's hard to get a true perspective of how much room there is. It also depends on whether you would like a tv to go in the room or whether there's another more "den" or entertainment type room. I think perhaps the long couch on the wall opposite the window, and the chair on the left of that. Or you could rotate that same configuration the left, so as to leave the wall opposite the window with space for a entertainment unit.
I would maybe go with a green for the walls to pick up the green in your chair and couch? Or, maybe a golden yellow? hard to say without seeing it in person, and what the quality of light is in the room. :o)
