not so great choices
Well, I've been making some not so great choices lately. I haven't done horrible, but... The majority of problems is just drinking calories. The milk at home and the tea at restaurants just calls. I handle water ok for a little while, but I am just not a fan. Anyway, the scales couldn't decide exactly what I weighed last night. The number I decided to record is slightly less than last week's number. Hopefully, though, the reality is one of the smaller numbers that the scales gave me. I am now adding some exercise to my routine. I still haven't figured out how to get some good cardio in, but I am starting to do some things at night while watching tv. I'm not jumping into anything too major...just making sure that I'm moving for at least 30 minutes each night. I'll be doing some weight lifting, some situps, etc. So far, making small choices with my food seems to be working (when I do it) so I'm going to stick with the same idea for exercise. At the very least, moving for 30 minutes uses up a few calories. Hopefully, I'll be building muscles, too.

I've been doing some inside walking using a dvd by leslie sansone. I really enjoy it. Especially when the weather isn't that conducive in the EVENING to doing my walking regime outside. And, it's more exciting than just exercising by myself. The particular DVD I have has 5 workouts on it, two 1 miles & three 2 miles. She has LOTS of dvd's to choose from. I just picked mine up at Target.
I would love to get outside and walk, but Matt doesn't really want me walking when it's dark. By the time we get settled with dinner and such, it's getting dark. Hopefully, as the days get longer, I can start getting out right after supper. We've also thought of getting a treadmill. I'm not so sure that a DVD would work for me. I would really like to do something while watching the tv shows that I like.
my motivation is often that I want to be done by the time my tv shows start. So, I've got to start by 7:30 in order to be done with my 30 minute walk. :-) I don't like walking outside when it's late, either. Oh, I don't know if you have any spare time in the day (or maybe not spare time, but time you could use for this) - I sometimes do my walking when Kate naps, although she does okay if she's up while I'm walking. She thinks its funny & sometimes does little steps beside me.
And, of course, there's all sorts of exercises you can do without having to watch a dvd, but that's just what has kept me motivated. I'm not relying on anyone else's schedule, I just have to fit 30 minutes into MY schedule. I don't even have to rely on the weather. :-)
You know, I should probably make use of my time in the afternoon when the kids are down. I just need to get motivated! I need to create a better routine for myself.
Once you get your routine, you may also find that it helps you make better food choices. I sleep so much better on the days when I walk which makes me feel better the next day which makes it easier to make the good choices.
Another idea for getting some random exercise, I sometimes do pieces of old color guard routines just to move around a little.
