Lisa sent me an article online about weight loss. As I read it, I was reminded of a lesson I learned one morning in church. It was really simple, but a new way of thinking.
In simplest form, the idea is to "concentrate on going towards a goal, not away from the thing you want to avoid." As it was used in the sermon, the preacher was saying that you don't become Christlike by focusing on getting away from your temptations or non-Christlike desires. If you do, you are giving all of your attention to those things that you don't want...and making it harder to resist them. Instead, you should turn and focus on being like Christ. As you become more like Christ, you will be more able to stand against those other worldly things. In addition, your time is now being spent on Christ - what you really want.
This idea also applies to eating. When I'm tempted with eating something that I don't really need or just munching at night because I want to, I need something to turn "to". I need to figure out what my "to" is. It may be that I need two "to's" - one for the daytime and one at night when I'm vegetating. I'm going to work on this and see what I can come up with.

I remember learning that same idea in school (applied to weight loss). Two groups of people posted pictures on their fridge. One group posted pictures of how they wanted to look (aka skinny, what they used to look like prior to weight gain, etc.) The other group posted pictures of cows, or other negative images (I can't remember exactly what the used). The group who posted the positive pictures lost more weight.
Maybe you should put skinny pictures of yourself up on the fridge (or cabinets) or both! :)
good luck with your mission!
I'm glad the article was helpful.
